Owens Corning®, one of the leading manufacturers in the roofing industry, announced a few months ago that it has issued a “green bond” amounting to $450 million. But what does this mean for the consumer?
Commitment to Sustainability
The issuance of the green bond is in line with Owen Corning’s commitment to run a sustainable enterprise that benefits not just the shareholders, but also the environment. Joining other leaders in sustainability, the roofing manufacturer became the first U.S. industrial company to complete this endeavor.
The Purpose of the Green Bond
The $450-million green bond is payable for 10 years and has a coupon rate of 3.95%. The company pledged to spend most of it on sustainability projects that will further work in areas centered on answering environmental challenges. Eligible projects include long-term purchase power agreements for renewable energy, investments to increase energy efficiency and investments in waste reduction, recycling and other eco-efficient programs.
What Does This Mean to You?
With Owens Corning’s dedication to shrink its environmental footprint, it’s no wonder that the manufacturer is a trusted brand among distributors and roofing contractors alike. For local shingle roofer Punum Roofing of Houston, Inc., it is about allowing customers to make sustainability a vital aspect of their roofing projects.
